Cranach: Secular Liturgies
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Dr. Veith over at Cranach linked to a Washington Post column that notes that there is a pattern, dare he say, a liturgy, about the way politicians reveal their wrongdoing to the public. The comments are great, as they cover Little League, kids in trouble at school, the birthday party, and the wedding reception.
I give [...]

The Davos Question
Sunday, January 27th, 2008

YouTube has been hosting The Davos Conversation, where people submit videos answering The Davos Question:
What one thing do you think that countries, companies, or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?
Since I’m not photogenic enough to submit a video:
Prevent the New Kids on the Block from reuniting.
Oh, seriously? Hmm.
Countries [...]

Props to Heroes
Monday, May 21st, 2007

What a cool run the NBC show “Heroes” has had. Every show has been awesome, and I’m glad we’ve been able to record the times I’ve missed. The writing, special effects, and actors have been terrific. The commentary on the web site has been cool too, whenever the bandwidth allows.
It’s a nice thing to see [...]

Arging Theism from the Second Law
Monday, May 14th, 2007

Much has been made of recent atheist vs. theist debates, including such people as Al Sharpton and Kirk Cameron. Trouble is, even if the theists win, nobody gets saved in the process. It’s just a huge defense to keep Jews and Christians from being labeled irrational.
Let me bring up a little bit of high school [...]

Happy Mother’s Day

to the NR Wife, to her mother, and to my mother, all upon whom I lean on in various ways and for whose support I’m thankful.
The Pastor Aardvark has a cool post about the church as Mom. It and the two articles by Deaconess Carder he links to are well worth the read.
I also want [...]

May Day Potpourri
Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Laptop and non-bloggable issues have wrecked my daily posting rhythm as of late.
Sometimes I come across topics that I just feel others would do a better job that I would. Such was the case with the topic of holy water for sale, adroitly handled by Frank at Putting Out the Fire. Thanks, Frank! Put that [...]

UPI reports (link dead) that 82-year-old Venus Ramey, Miss America 1944, caught three thieves who were stealing farm equipment from her shed. She shot out one of their tires and held them on the business side of a .38 revolver until police arrived.
Way to go, Miss America!

I took in a little Hannity & Colmes last night and saw Elisabeth Hasselbeck discussing the Imus firing. Video and other people’s commentary are available at Hot Air.
To my amazement I found myself agreeing with both Hannity and Colmes in my disagreement with Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck found the decision to fire Imus good while not saying [...]
