Freezing temperatures hit Houston last night, giving me a little ice to knock off the windshield this morning.
There are a couple of accidents, but the drive up the side streets was thankfully uneventful. The normally aggressive Houston drivers seem to be slowing down for once. Conroe, northwest of Houston, seems to have been hit a little harder; Pr. Borghardt, let us know if you’re ok, please.
Here at the office, it looks like maybe 20-30% of employees made it in this morning.
I’m a little concerned about the California fruit growers asking the federal government for aid. Does “promote the general welfare” include being accountable for the weather? Mitigating financial risk isn’t in the Constitution, yet. Prices are going up and will reward those farmers who grew in warmer areas and those who took effective precautions against the freeze.
