The Human Events blog reports that the Senate was looking to pass weak earmark reform legislation. Sen. Jim Demint (R-SC) proposed an amendment that would bring earmark reform up to the level passed by the House. A motion to table the amendment proposed by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) failed.
Senator Voinovich voted with Durbin in the attempt to disrupt the amendment. Senator Brown of course joined them, but one expects that from liberals.
