The House passed H.R. 2, to raise the minimum wage, 315-116 with 4 abstentions. 82 Republicans crossed lines in a display of mass ignorance, while not a single Democrat came to his/her senses.
I’m happy with my representative’s vote of No on the matter. Thanks, Congressman Tiberi.

waitaminute!
Didn’t we just pass Issue 2? isn’t that a constitutionally mandated minimum wage vicious circle?
What then is HR2? argh!

You know, it’s almost funny. Ohio Issue 2 raised the minimum wage to $6.85/hr in Ohio effective Jan. 1, 2007.
The Federal minimum wage goes up to $5.85 in under 60 days, then $6.55 a year from now, then $7.25 in another year.
So the Ohio wage overrides until 2008, for now.
The fun part lies in the Ohio Issue 2 language which increases yearly the minimum wage with the rate of inflation. Companies will have a fun time estimating labor cost in the next couple of years.

Sadly, LaTourette is ours, although I’ve always had my doubts about him. Kucinich, obviously, is just a nut case. Thanks for being my go-to site for Ohio news!
