The Hill’s Congress Blog contains a Thank You to CITGO from Representative Jose Serrano (D, NY-16).
CITGO you may recall is Venezuelan and controlled by commun—excuse me—democratic socialist dictator Hugo Chavez. Chavez you may recall had some unkind words at the U.N. in September for President Bush and called the U.S. government the “first enemy” of its people.
Congressman Serrano is thanking CITGO for selling its fuel at a discounted rate to the U.S. government for its Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The fuel is then distributed by a company run by another Democrat, former N.Y. representative Joseph Kennedy II.
Seems like we have government ties to “big oil” and there’s not a Republican anywhere.
More importantly, CITGO has been actively boycotted by U.S. citizens in protest of Chavez’s anti-American stance, cooperation with Iran, and active interest in acquiring nuclear technology. Now the U.S. government is buying what the U.S. citizens refuse to.
Maybe Chavez is right about that first enemy business.

I kinda think we are our own worst enemies. Who keeps voting these clowns in year after year?
