Friday night we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Brookpark, a suburb of Cleveland. This was the first Express I’ve been to that looked like it was something else first.
Perhaps it was because I was up until 2 a.m. Wednesday night and we arrived late Thursday night, but the double queen-size beds were very comfortable. The beds had the typically-labeled soft and hard pillows. The TV had over 40 channels, better than the average. Heating and air-conditioning were adequately provided by a window unit with a digital thermostat. The room had an Ethernet cable, but I didn’t get the chance to try it out.
The bathroom was spacious with good counter space. The bath tub was small but had the bowed shower bar. The hair dryer functioned properly. The bathroom fan didn’t pull a lot of air. The door had to be pushed significantly to latch closed.
The Express Start(TM) breakfast was consistent with other Express hotels, serving a nice continental breakfast with Danishes, fresh fruits, and their hot cinnamon rolls. The fitness room held a nautilus, a bike and two treadmills. There was a small indoor pool and hot tub. I didn’t get to evaluate the laundry.
Two exits made the parking lot easy to enter and leave. The lot was appropriately salted when the snow flurries came.
The staff had a pleasant attitude and was quick, giving us extra linens when we needed them. We had checked out a day early. Since I had used points, I will have to contact Priority Club to get a refund for the night we didn’t stay.
Holiday Inn Express is one of my most consistent brands, and their hotels provide good value. If you have to stay the night near the Cleveland airport, this isn’t a bad choice.
