Yesterday the office of the Secretary of State for Ohio published this 33-page PDF that contains ballot text and rules for advertising in newspapers. All issues have ballot language, full text, and arguments pro and con each issue.
The only question I really had was on Issue 1, and after reading the pro and con text, nothing changed my opinion.
Licking County residents can see their candidates and issues on lcounty.com.
There are some write-in candidates, Richard Duncan for U.S. Senate, and two Governor/Lieutenant Governor pairs. Duncan doesn’t seem to have a web site.
The governor’s race features Democrat Ted Strickland, Republican J. Kenneth Blackwell, Socialist Robert Fitrakis, Libertarian William S. Pierce, and the two write-in candidates, Larry Bays and James Lundeen. Lundeen considers himself a moderate; Bays’ issues seem to be overtaxation and putting all tax increases on statewide referendums.
Early voting started today on October 3rd. Election law has changed so that you don’t have to provide an excuse to vote absentee in Ohio. I will have to avail myself of this option. ![]()
