The weather finally cleared up this week, so I spent my last evening in southwest Oklahoma visiting the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. There hasn’t been much change in six years. Afterwards, I had to pay a visit to the Meers Store & Restaurant north of the reserve. The Reserve and Meers Store do not open on Tuesdays. The temperature was only in the nineties, making it cooler than my trip to Moab, UT.

Meers Store and Restaurant Meers Store and Restaurant
This historic burger joint serves up some of the yummiest burgers in Oklahoma and serves its drinks in quart jars. Despite having “No Smoking” signs, the condensation coming out of the A/C gives the restaurant a smoky look.
Meersburger, Spicy Fries, and Lemonade Meersburger, Spicy Fries, and Lemonade
A Meersburger is made from Texas Longhorn beef, which is a little crumbly but very tasty. The quart jar renders refills obsolete.
