The Volokh Conspiracy has some good insight on legislation passed by the U.S. House to ban the confiscation of guns during disasters. FEMA had banned guns in a trailer park that housed Katrina victims, and police departments in Baton Rouge and New Orleans had confiscated firearms.

The large number of Ohio Democrats who voted for the ban is interesting.
