In one of my more lucid moments today (one of my children has given me a virus), I watched the live announcement that Roger “The Rocket” Clemens, has signed on for one more year for the Houston Astros baseball team.
Rocket said that he’s doing it because he wants the team to win one more time and also to help out his son Koby in the minor leagues. The Astros were in the World Series last year.
The 43-year-old Clemens, who will be entering his 23rd major league season, is agreeing first to a minor league contract that pays $322,000 over the five-month minor league season, and his first start is likely to be at Lexington, Ky., the Class A team where his oldest son, Koby, plays.
How would you like to be a single-A ballplayer on the opposing team and seeing Clemens taking the mound with his 341 career wins and 4502 career strikeouts?
