According to the Center for Consumer Freedom, President Bush is 5′11″ and 191 lbs, giving him a body mass index of 26. Even though he’s more fit than 99% of 55-59 year-old men, the BMI calls him overweight. So we’re to conclude that if you’re too old, you’re too fat too.

Of course the scale is flawed. It treats muscle the same as fat and doesn’t even take into account age, gender, and other things that are factors in one’s weight. Can we just drop the BMI scale? It isn’t too hard to see how trying to meet this thing will result in Kate Moss, Callista Flockhart, or something on the other side of death.
Update: August 3rd, 10:33am: The President’s Challenge website has an updated BMI calculator that takes age and gender into account. President Bush is still overweight.
