The field camp in Bossier City is quite close to Barksdale AFB. There is a museum on the base that has exhibits dating back to the 1930s as well as a special September 11 exhibit. On my lunch I decided to pay a visit.
To get to the museum, one has to go on the base grounds, and that required showing the guard at the gate my driver’s license and rental car agreement.

B-52 in Service
This B-52 is in service and not part of the museum. Barksdale practices take-offs and landings in the late afternoon. (thanks Minister2B for the correction) |
