Unofficial results have Ken Blackwell (R) against Ted Strickland (D) for the Ohio governor’s race in November. It will be nice to see if we can get some principled debate between these guys.

In local news, no new taxes and no liquor license for the roach motel. Pretty cool.

The Republican Senate primary results at the time of this post:

DeWine, Mike 427,810 71.13%
Smith, David R. 90,186 15.00%
Pierce, William G. 83,411 13.87%
Precincts Reporting: 73.19% 601,407

As noted before, the opposition to DeWine really didn’t do well in the product differentiation department, so their close totals don’t surprise me. 30% opposition in a primary doesn’t sound like a whole lot to me: is it name recognition, or not paying attention? It sounds like we’re going to send a big government senator back to Washington, whether DeWine or Sherrod Brown. With the influence of tenure on committee power, it may be worth it to vote a non-Republican in just to get someone in there with less power.

The Ohio “S.O.B.” Alliance isn’t happy with DeWine at all.
