Not only do we have the Supreme Court debating the parental notification of a minor having an abortion, we now have a federal judge saying (link dead) that a 17-year-old girl, attending the public school her parents pay for, can keep an administrator from informing her parents of open public displays of affection with another female?

In the same society where parental permission is required for children to take medication at school?

I might understand if a child were emancipated, but I don’t see that in these cases.
