I’ve been staying at one of the Wingate Inns in Houston this week. Normally I have had good experiences with Wingate Inns, one of the first chains to offer high speed internet access in all their properties.
This week, though, has not been such a good experience.
Monday, I tried to work out in their fitness center, but after 15 minutes it was apparent that their air conditioner would not operate even with the thermostat set to 50. When I reported this to the clerk, he suggested that it was hot in the room because I was working out. In the hopes that he misunderstood me, I told him again about the thermostat and the lack of A/C, to no avail. I reported it the next morning to a friendlier clerk, and when I went to work out this evening, the A/C was running, and I could tell the difference.
Wednesday, the juice machine broke, and they replaced it with an orange juice machine, but what it produced was not drinkable. This was reported, and this morning it was not fixed.
Yesterday evening though, took the cake. My room’s door doesn’t shut and lock when left to close; it has to be pulled shut. I reported it yesterday. Last night I came back from business, the door was cracked open. Thankfully, nobody was in the room, and I have yet to notice anything stolen. The door is still not fixed.
Tomorrow morning I will check out and move to another hotel recommended one of the other trainers. Another hotel report is coming next Friday.
