One of our favorite restaurant chains is Houlihan’s. We’ve visited the one in Columbus and one in St. Louis. There used to be one Kansas City’s Barney Alice Plaza that we went to several years ago, but it’s no longer there. They are consistently wonderful; if you get a chance to go, do not miss the ‘Shrooms.

Yesterday towards the end of yet another nice dinner—she had breaded, stuffed chicken, and I had my usual Jambalaya—the chef brought a to-go package to our table. He informed us that he had there was a change in the way they were supposed to make the breading for the stuffed chicken, and he remade the dish to be sent home with us. We both liked the “old way” and wondered how the “new way” could be any better. The chef accepted the compliment yet insisted we enjoy the new dish on the house. Rewarmed for dinner, the new chicken certainly wasn’t any worse!

Houlihan’s is a high quality establishment with food priced accordingly. Considering the leftovers we normally get and the additional meal, this time we got more than our money’s worth.
