This week I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bossier City, Louisiana.

The pillows were a little too stiff for my taste, and the mattress was well used and didn’t support well. The room was clean, and I got a refrigerator, a feature I usually don’t get in a Holiday Inn. The bathroom was well maintained, but the shower liked to vary between too hot and too cold.

High-speed Internet access functioned on Sunday but didn’t work well on Monday and Wednesday. When I called the 3rd-party tech support on Wednesday to get it worked on, it seemed that the system detected that I had proxies turned on and would drop my connection. Halliburton lurkers: start your laptop up before plugging in your ethernet cable, disable your proxies, then plug in the cable. That seemed to work the best here. I don’t know why it makes a difference, but it seemed to.

The hotel was laid out so that several buildings surrounded the pool and the fitness center in its own building. There were no rooms with an inside corridor. The window had a privacy curtain but no curtain that blocked out light; I just hope that the sheer white curtain was functional.

The fitness room had a TV, one bike, two stairmasters, and a nautilus. I didn’t work out on any of the equipment so I can’t report to its functionality. I did see someone riding the bike.

Breakfast bar itself was free for Priority Club members, but I had to tip the staff. The bar had scrambled eggs, strawberries, bacon (pretty limp), sausage patties (rather stiff), cottage cheese, a waffle iron, and milk on ice. Orange juice cost extra.

The hotel hung off of a frontage road which got good traffic during rush hour but was simple to enter and exit at other times.

Staff service was generally friendly. One of my stretch bands that I use for working out popped a grommet, and maintenance tried to help. The hotel was among the cheapest in the area with Halliburton rates, and I would likely stay here again if the need arises.
