Loose lips sink more than ships.
Newsweek acknowledged errors in a story that U.S. interrogators shredded and flushed the Koran down a toilet to persuade people to give up information. The story was used by Afghani protesters as an excuse to kill 15 and injure many more.
Even if the story is true (and it may not be): Did someone at Newsweek forget who we are dealing with here? Did they just assume that because Americans handle flag burning by informing the protester what an idiot he is, that Muslim anti-government protesters would behave the same way? I would think there is some degree of culpability here. Talk about an incentive to keep journalists out of Gitmo. It’s one thing for humanitarian NGOs to make sure we aren’t clamping jumper cables on someone’s earlobes. This actually incited violence.
