The New York Times reports that the federal government will “start paying hospitals and doctors for providing emergency care to illegal immigrants.” Why? Because the border states can’t afford it. Surprised?

There are multiple flags on the field for this play.

  1. Will uninsured citizens now pose as illegals to get the federal government to pay for their health care?
  2. Are there any plans for reimbursement for these citizens of other countries by their foreign governments? *silence*
  3. Is this the future of No Child Left Behind, another unfunded federal mandate?
  4. Does anyone plan on buying those new 30-year T-bonds now?
  5. If we didn’t have illegals here, we wouldn’t have to pay for their health care, education, and other benefits, now would we?
  6. If something is too expensive to accomplish, how about not doing it, or finding other means of getting the job done, like every citizen has to do for themselves today?

I thought Social Security was going to break us, but now I have new hopes for a faster federal default. Who thinks there’s going to be a lock box on this?

I guess poor lawbreaking noncitizens are more important than law abiding citizens. I wonder what laws citizens could break, and not only avoid the consequences of their actions, but get added monies at this magnitude from the government who should be penalizing them. Back this team up to the goal line and sack them.

Congratulations to Republican Jon Kyl. You just started stealing from a lot more people because it wasn’t enough to take from Arizona and California. What is it about Arizona Republican senators that make them act like socialists?

Update: May 11, 2:41pm: Taynar points out that the Federal Government will be more than happy to short states the funds required to pay for these services in order to keep T-bonds afloat. Without the government to cover those costs, I wonder how the hospitals and pharmaceuticals will make up the difference. Hmmm.
