The Associated Press (via ABCnews) reports that Justin Timberlake will play a young King Arthur in Shrek 3. Cameron Diaz and Michael Myers return, but no mention of Eddie Murphy reprising Donkey just yet.
Can Justin Timberlake sound refined, dastardly, or even funny? After John Lithgow (Lord Farquaad) and John Cleese (King Harold), have we run out of classically trained and distinctive male voices? How about Patrick Stewart (who should have been Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin) or if we’re going for whiny, why not Hayden Christensen? Craig Ferguson? Daniel Radcliffe? Neil Patrick Harris?
At least any wardrobe malfunctions won’t be an accident this time.
