AP reports that the House of Representatives is seeking to ban federal funds from being used to obtain or improve property seized via Kelo v. New London for private developers.

It’s a good start, but it does not attack the principle. A civil authority can still order your property given to someone else. If Congress wants to do the right thing, they have to use Article III to limit jurisdiction.

What if someone asks for money from a state, which receives federal funds? Would the Federal government withhold funding for a state? Now that would be progress!

What are local municipalities doing with federal grants in the first place? It’s bad enough they send money to the states. No wonder we’re still running deficits.
