I had allowed the normal 45 minutes to get to the airport, but icy roads and traffic snarls stretched that to about 80 minutes.
The traffic service used by the radio stations described I-70 westbound from Ohio 256 to Brice Road as “heavy” at 6:50am. The traffic had already backed up past Ohio 310, for a total backup of eight miles rather than just two. Our second route didn’t rate a mention, but we spent 40 minutes going the 3.5 miles on Broad Street.
So I missed the flight, and now I’m hanging out at the Columbus airport. At least the internet is free.
I’m standby on the next flight near noon and confirmed on the 5:15 flight. If I have to take the later flight I get into Sacramento just before 11pm local time. That would be a long day.
Our first training class in Woodland starts Thursday, so being late to that isn’t going to be a concern.
Update, 11:46am: The noon flight filled up.
Update, February 20, 3:52am Eastern Time: The Sacramento flight was delayed, so I just arrived at the hotel room. Class has been moved to tomorrow, but at least they won’t meet until 9am (Pacific)
