The AP reports (link dead) that in negotiating the “emergency package to jolt the economy,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi has agreed to drop food stamp and unemployment increases “in exchange for gaining a rebates (sic) of at least $300 for each person earning a paycheck, including low-income earners who make too little to pay income taxes.”
I’m happy about the food stamp and unemployment increases being shut down, but paying people who didn’t pay in the first place isn’t a rebate. You wouldn’t find this kind of rebate at Staples or OfficeMax. ![]()
