The AP reports that Oscar Pistorious, a double-amputee sprinter, cannot participate in the Beijing Olympics because his prosthetics give him an advantage over other runners.

It’s a cool world where this can actually happen. “We can rebuild him. We have the technology…”

Should he run in Beijing? No, of course not, any more than if he were strapped to a bicycle instead of prosthetics. I do think that this guy can make some monster endorsement deals and challenge the world’s fastest runners to races for profit. Clearly he is a world-class athlete and an inspiration.

More power to him. Which, it seems, happens.
