UPI reports (link dead) that Marvel Comics is developing comics in which superheroes work with the United Nations against conflict and disease.
The big lie:
The United Nations hopes to bolster its international image damaged by the unilateral diplomatic efforts of some Western countries by teaching children the value of international cooperation.
Sorry, try again. The reputation of the United Nations was damaged by the sons of the previous Secretary-General taking money from the Oil for Food program, the raping of women and children by UN peacekeepers in the Congo, the Human Rights Council teaming with countries that have no inkling of human rights, the UNICEF producing books that promote child promiscuity and homosexuality, and you can Google the rest.
How can Spider-Man fix that? Did anyone watch the latest Hulk movie? The X-Men series? The heroes were working against government elements to control them. Wolverine as the next ambassador for the UN is going to be a bit unbelievable.
Stan Lee has his money now, and the United Nations’ purchase of one million comics with U.S. financial contributions (your tax money) is sure to net Marvel a nice profit.

A small clarification, Stan Lee was basically shown the door by the current leadership at Marvel, he no longer has any official connection with the company he helped create. He was considered too “old school” and was shown the door. Very sad considering that Lee would promote anything Marvel was involved in for a pittance of what an outside advertising agency charges. All Marvel had to do is pay a small salary and Stan the man would appear at any convention or go on any talk show and promote the industry and company that he truly loves.
I think Wolverine would make a fine ambassador to the UN. And considering that the Hulk just came back from outer space wanting to live up to his new title “world-breaker”, he would do well at the UN as well. Oh yeah.

Allow me a small clarification. I was saying Wolverine as a representative from the UN. I’m with you in saying I’d love to send him to the UN on behalf of US.
Thanks for the info on Stan Lee.
