Skybus is a Columbus-based airline that has allowed my parents to inexpensively and visit us a couple of times. Other than a flight that was late because it was late on the previous leg, they haven’t had any problems. Some tickets go as low as $25 and even $10 if you purchase them far enough in advance.

AP reports that Skybus lost $16 million in its first quarter of business, but the airline said this was expected before becoming profitable next year.

Skybus makes up some of the cost by charging for checked luggage and, like United, selling meals on the plane. They also do not man any call centers or supply an 800 number.

Here’s hoping they level off and cruise.
