The United States voted against a Defamation of Religion resolution at a committee meeting of the United Nations. The resolution passed 88-52 with 23 abstentions. Results are on the press release; scroll down to ANNEX I.

The text of the resolution (English, PDF) claims to support diversity but singles out Islam as a persecuted religion seven times, occasionally alongside “any other religion” parenthetically.

Point 9 is an attack on free speech:

Urges States to take resolute action to prohibit the dissemination through political institutions and organizations of racist and xenophobic ideas and material aimed at any religion or its followers that constitute incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence;

Point 13 is interesting, given that girls and boys do not receive equal opportunity for education is most Islamic states:

Urges States to ensure equal access to education for all, in law and in practice, including access to free primary education for all children, both girls and boys, and access for adults to lifelong learning and education based on respect for human rights, diversity and tolerance without discrimination of any kind, and to refrain from any legal or other measures leading to racial segregation in access to schooling;

You, first. Before you get a shot at my rights, fix your own.
