I had booked Williston’s Marquis Plaza and Suites online, but the online booking botched my non-smoking request. When I arrived and they had put me in the nastiest-smelling smoking room I’d seen in a while, I asked for a non-smoking room. They didn’t have one. I started calling the other hotels in Williston, and behold, a non-smoking executive suite opened up. :)

The room was quite attractive and clean. It was split into two rooms and a small bathroom, all with 12-foot ceilings. One room contained a not-too-firm king-size bed, a TV, and a small chair, while the other held the desk, another TV, a small table, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a comfortable couch. The wooden chair at the desk was a little uncomfortable. The window heater functioned well with a digital thermostat.

The room had plenty of outlets, four at the desk, four at the table, and others around. There was good space for in-room calisthenics, which was necessary because the hotel did not seem to sport a fitness room. Wireless internet access worked well, and the room sported an ethernet jack. The TV sported about 40 channels, including Food Network and G4. I was not able to evaluate any laundry service, and there was no room service because there was no restaurant.

The bathroom had a standard bathtub, but the shower head was at a welcome 7′ high. Controls worked fine, but the bathtub drained too slowly. Counter space was sufficient. Housekeeping did a spiffy job, taking out all trash and replacing all towels daily. There were no bugs to kill, either.

The continental breakfast unfortunately was pretty weak. One had to microwave Brown-and-Serve sausages to get any meat. There were the individually wrapped cereal bowls, but they were all kids’ cereals. One could toast bagels or several types of bread, but that was the extent of the breakfast.

Access to the hotel is a little tricky because the hotel buildings look similar to the apartments around the hotel. The ramp to the parking is small, and stairs are required to get down to the lobby.

The Marquis is a little more expensive than the El Rancho, at $112.50 per night for the executive room. The room is really nice, and it may be worth coming back to a normal room. I would definitely call the hotel first and not rely on online bookings for this hotel. Unfortunately I don’t score any frequent stay points with this hotel either.
