Reuters reports that Yoko Ono has created — get this — a tower of light in Iceland. The “Imagine Peace Tower” will be on every year from October 9 to December 8, the birth and death dates of John Lennon.

“I hope that when the light from the tower will shine, the world will pause for a time and imagine peace,” Ono told Reuters in an interview before the unveiling.

All 117,000 in Reykjavik, perhaps. The city’s web site displays the single beam (link dead) into space. I wonder how many will complain of the light pollution.

I do have to give her some credit. Yoko may be on to something here. There may not be a more appropriate monument of human inability to achieve peace in a sinful world than a massless, intermittent column stuck on a large island.
