Heaven help us. Hillary thinks we’re in Russia now.
AP reports that Hillary Rodham Clinton thinks that every child born in the U.S. should get a $5,000 baby bond for college or for the down payment of buying a home.
This sounds a little bit like Vladimir Putin’s monthly payments for having more children, only Hillary’s proposal is a one-time deal to buy your votes. For now.
If we were to start giving all newborns $5,000 or however much now, in 18 years college tuition is going to be even more insane. Universities will have to hire more instructors to man overcrowded classrooms and build even bigger lecture halls and facilities. The demand for labor and facilities will push tuition and taxes up even further. I am already shuddering at what college tuition is going to be for my kids, especially when they may need master’s-plus degrees at that time.
I’m also thrilled at the prospect of my tax dollars going to someone else’s children, just because they were born later than mine.
You know, I’m curious. Not everyone goes to college. Not everyone buys a home. What do they do with the bond?
