Slashdot spreads word of a bug in Microsoft Excel 2007 that causes a formula that evaluates as 65535 to display as 100000. The bug was revealed in the public Google group microsoft.public.excel. The bug has been reported to Microsoft.
I may need to append a disclaimer to the spreadsheets I create:
Author makes no guarantee, expressed or implied, as to the validity of the numbers in this spreadsheet. Should the recipient find numbers to be inaccurate due to Excel calculation issues, the recipient may elect to purchase a new laptop for the author and recipient with either Mac OS/X or Linux installed, or both parties may agree to use OpenOffice software.
Author would prefer the former. ![]()
