I stayed a night at the Holiday Inn Denver-International Airport Area while waiting for my 6:30AM flight.
The staff was very friendly right off the bat, offering me a Platinum upgrade and calling my room to make sure everything was ok.
My room was upgraded to a Board Room, which is a room-and-a-half. The half-room had a large table that could be closed off from the rest of the room, which was kind of cool.
What was not cool was the air conditioning. I reported the board room’s malfunctioning A/C unit to the front desk. The A/C unit for the sleeping room worked, but it was week. The board room’s A/C was completely shot, and they will have to replace it.
The bathroom was small, but the shower was high enough and had a bowed curtain rod. Controls worked fine.
The TV had only about 20 channels, but it had SHO and SHO2. I could find only two outlets in the board room; I would have expected more in a room where two or people were expected to work. The ethernet jack did not work, but wireless worked sufficiently. The hotel had two wireless internet options: a free 384k connection, and a $8.95/night 1.5Mbps connection. The 384k was sufficient.
There wasn’t much room in the sleeping room, but the board room would have made a good place to work out in were the A/C working.
Room service was quick, but I didn’t like the breading on the fish. It didn’t hold together well and wouldn’t let me dip.
I didn’t get a chance to check out the fitness room, the laundry service, or the downstairs hotel breakfast.
Access to the hotel room is fairly simple, and the GPS found this place perfectly. Don’t let the “airport” in the name fool you. There aren’t any hotels on the grounds, and you have to drive the length of Peña Boulevard and drop the rental car off in the morning. Parking was sufficient, and there is an exit near the elevator so luggage doesn’t have to be dragged far.
Halliburton has a rate of $74 on this room, which is pretty good given the area. The next time I visit Denver I’ll be staying somewhere closer to my teaching location.
