Gillette has a good number of hotels; just not very many available ones. Some companies have rented out entire hotels to house their crews. I was able to get a room at the Best Western Tower West Lodge.

The queen bed I slept in was quite old: one actually sank into the bed, especially if sitting up. The chair and small desk were not comfortable enough to do a lot of work. The internet access worked very well, except for that time when the city block suffered a power outage.

My room had a refrigerator and a microwave. The television had eighty channels including SciFi, F/X, Starz, and Encore. There was some room to do workouts, but that came at the expense of the bathroom and sink. The shower floor was raised, and that put the shower head in my shoulder blades. The single knob control worked well. The air conditioner worked very well; I had to keep backing it off in the 70 degree weather.

Room service was quick and good during the weekdays, but they only served dinner on Saturday. The laundry service performed well, too. The restaurant was understaffed for breakfast, but they had huge pancakes and sausage. :)

The fitness room had a television and was well air-conditioned. The elliptical trainer didn’t work. The Body by JakeTM abs/back machine worked well, but the resistance was too light. The room also had three treadmills, a recombinant bike, and a nautilus.

Access to the hotel is simply if you come into Gillette from Interstate 90. Come up from the south on 25, and you’ll go through town. My Hertz GPS had two addresses for the hotel; use the Highway 14 address. Parking was adequate all the way around the building.

HAL has a corporate rate of $179.99 on weekdays and $129.99 over the weekends. If an employee reserves directly with the hotel, they will save $10 a night. I don’t have a Best Western points account and didn’t want to sign up for more junk mail just for this stay. Hopefully the next time I were to come here I would get more notice and be able to stay at one of the Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotels.
