While in Casper I stayed at the Holiday Inn on the River (local web site / Holiday Inn site). They had offered me the Presidential suite the first night, but I wouldn’t have been able to keep it for the whole stay.
I got an average room with a king-size bed. The normal mattress and pillows slept comfortably. There wasn’t much room to do calisthenics. The TV had about 40 channels, including Discovery and Oxygen but no Sci-Fi.The wireless internet worked very well in the room and even recovered quickly after a power flicker on the last day. The ductwork air conditioning worked well.
Room service was good, quick, and courteous. The fried mushrooms, fajita wrap, and cajun seafood pasta were nice. I did not get the opportunity to check out the laundry service.
The fitness room is quite good, with an elliptical, two bikes, a treadmill, and a BowFlex. It was the first time I’d seen a BowFlex in a hotel.
Both the sink area outside the bathroom and the bathroom itself were quite cramped. It took a long time to get the three-knob shower control up to hot water in the morning. The mirrors chopped my head off.
The hotel is a traditional Holidome, which meant I had to drive all the way around the building and haul my luggage up stairs to get to my room. The door to the outside that was supposed to be key-only opened even without the key.
Access to the hotel is fairly simple, with two accesses from I-25. The parking lot congested easily.
The hotel is in the middle of remodeling, so the front desk was set back and to the right of the front door. The staff was friendly, but housekeeping insisted in cleaning my room between 5pm and 5:30pm. I prefer to have my room clean before I get back from work.
HAL has a corporate rate of $62, and it’s a good deal. If I were to return, I would see if the Holiday Inn Express closer to the camp is available, but I wouldn’t mind coming back again.
