This week I stayed closer to Denver, but the area this hotel is in is an industrial sector without many restaurants. I was also getting back to racking up Holiday Inn points.

The Holiday Inn Denver-Central is essentially two whole buildings of four floors each. There are enough elevators to avoid being inconvenienced.

I got an average-size room with a king bed and a chair. The bed was standard with four pillows. There is enough room to do minor calisthenics, but one will probably prefer the fitness room which contains two treadmills, a stairmaster, and a recombinant bike. The TV was disappointing, 20 channels with HBO. Room service was handled by the attached Teddy’s restaurant, which was pretty good. Since this hotel had a full restaurant, there was no free breakfast.

The internet access was governed by a username password system that only lets someone on for one or four days, depending on the username. The signal was weak and could have benefited from repeaters.

The sink was inside the bathroom with good counter space. The hardware was old and corroded in places. The shower took some time to warm up but once warm the temperature stayed even. The bath was standard size, with no bowed curtain rod.

I only got one trash can for the whole room. I had to request a refrigerator for an additional charge. The desk had 3 AC outlets and an ethernet port, but I didn’t try the port.

The hotel staff was usually courteous, but I was placed on hold repeatedly trying to get a new internet access password. I was not here long enough to try the laundry service.

Access to the hotel is a little strange. If coming from the airport on I-70 one has to get off at Pecos St and do a near U-turn back east onto W 48th St. Access is better from I-25.

Halliburton gets a corporate rate of $90 with this hotel, and I’m not sure I would be willing to pay that much personally for this level of hotel in this location.
