Those of us who stayed up to watch the Buckeyes-Volunteers men’s basketball game were well rewarded.
Greg Oden stayed out a lot of minutes due to foul trouble but got the last word, rejecting Tennessee’s final shot and locking the final score in at 85-84. Ron Lewis and Mike Conley Jr picked up the slack for 25 and 17 points, respectively, but Matt Terwilliger was clutch coming off the bench.
The cardiac Buckeyes caught the first two buckets but let themselves get down 20 points late in the first half. The defense then stepped up in the second half, and the game got interesting the last two-thirds of the second half. OSU could never pull away from Tennessee, as the Volunteers were uncanny from 3-point land.
Conley hit the first of two free throws but missed the second, giving the Vols six seconds to try to do something with the ball. Ramar Smith showed some good dribble, but Ivan Harris had the body on him and Odom was spying him all the way and got the block.
The Buckeyes move on to meet Memphis on Saturday. Go Bucks!

All I have to say is that when my Florida Gators stomp your Buckeyes again, I’ll do my best not to gloat.

Depending on which Buckeyes show up, it might be sweet revenge for the BCS. I don’t think the basketball team will take out one of their own players in excessive celebration.
