I understand the desire, economically, for families to want to get their national average of kids in, and then shut the system down. There are theological reasons not to do so, and there are even social implications as well, as other culture groups outbreed ours and threaten to subjugate our children to their way of life in the future.

UPI throws another potential reason into the mix.

Northwestern University researchers discovered men with primary progressive aphasia — a neurological disease in which people have trouble recalling and understanding words — have a higher rate of vasectomy than men the same age who are cognitively normal.

Now this could be a post hoc fallacy: “after this, therefore because of this.” There will have to be some more hypotheses and research as to why this elective surgery would cause mental degradation; these two things seem quite far apart. On the other hand, if it is true, we shouldn’t be surprised, either, given that God prescribes some things to do that don’t seem wise to us until much further down the road.
