I understand the desire, economically, for families to want to get their national average of kids in, and then shut the system down. There are theological reasons not to do so, and there are even social implications as well, as other culture groups outbreed ours and threaten to subjugate our children to their way of life in the future.
UPI throws another potential reason into the mix.
Northwestern University researchers discovered men with primary progressive aphasia — a neurological disease in which people have trouble recalling and understanding words — have a higher rate of vasectomy than men the same age who are cognitively normal.
Now this could be a post hoc fallacy: “after this, therefore because of this.” There will have to be some more hypotheses and research as to why this elective surgery would cause mental degradation; these two things seem quite far apart. On the other hand, if it is true, we shouldn’t be surprised, either, given that God prescribes some things to do that don’t seem wise to us until much further down the road.

I wonder whether the age of when men had the procedure played a role in the effect. Would an early procedure at 35 be more riskier than if he undergoes the procedure at 60? Also, keep in mind that men will have the same level of hormones as those without a vasectomy– this is not castration.

Oh, I forgot…to add this:
We brown skinned folks will marry your fair skinned children. Our offspring will eat spicier food without any help from Beano ™. We will listen to loud oompah regional music. We’ll make your pale-skinned sons jealous when we make the cut to the high school sports teams while they warm the benches. In fact, I’ve married one of your handsome German-American Lutheran clergymen. He cannot resist the charms of this Latina woman. You will be assimilated. BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

ROFL! How do you say West Side Story in German?
I could have you beat on the spicier food bit. I’ve paid my dues in Louisiana.
Hey, if we don’t make more white people, who’s gonna reflect the sun back into the sky and stave off global warming?
Seriously though, I was aiming more at the Islam vs. Christianity population contest.

Carol, I was thinking I new the German-American Lutheran clergymen of whom you speak… but it appears the guy I know is scandinavian… so that makes at least two firey Latino wives of pale-skinned pastors. hmmm….. I smell a conspiracy, and no, you can’t borrow any of my tinfoil.

I knew two other LCMS pastors who are married to Latina women from California. One is in Florida and the other is (I think) in Alabama. We make great pastors wives.

Apparently you do! Okay then, that’s three, and all from California. The conspiracy thickens. (Well, the one I know isn’t actually a pastor until next year…)
