I tried out a new restaurant here in Corpus Christi. It goes by the name Thai Spice, but it doesn’t seem to be the Thai Spice franchise in Houston. This restaurant is located in the Bayfront Inn on Shoreline Drive.
I walked into the open door and waited to be seated for about 10 minutes. What looked like a husband and wife pair were cleaning up the kitchen. I got their attention, and the woman, Penney, seated me.
I told her it was my first time there, and she immediately offered the Chicken Sate, essentially chicken on skewers with yellow curry sauce and sprinkled with chopped peanuts. I could have just eaten that for dinner, it was that delicious. It was served with a salad of chopped cucumbers and tangled carrot straws.
Next I had salmon cooked in red curry sauce. The spice was strong but didn’t overpower the salmon, and it tasted good, as well. Ms. Penney suggested I take the fish and put it in the bread. It made a nice fish soft taco.
The dessert was sweet rice and strange, large, white berries which almost looked like onions, served in milk in a hollowed out coconut shell.
Both appetizer and meal were reasonably priced ($7 and $15), but the $12 dessert was over the top. I know a fellow trainer who may like this restaurant.
