I arrived in Grand Junction today. I noticed flying over the Rockies from Denver that the mountains were still snow-capped. The city was still at 75 degrees this evening, but the rental car agent said it still snows in the hills. Enterprise rented me a nice Ford Explorer. SUVs are the standard rental here.

The hotel I am staying at here gave me my Hilton upgrade to a room with a king-size bed and plenty of room to exercise. I’ll need it, because the front desk had two pizza-style ovens that contained warm chocolate chip cookies. It is cruel and unusual punishment that they didn’t have milk.

Cloud and Shadows Cloud and Shadows
According to United’s air traffic radio, I took this at 32000 feet in the Iowa City Air Route Traffic Control area, 5 minutes from Denver ARTC area. Could be Western Kansas or Nebraska.

I like this picture because the cloud is part in shadow and in light, and you can see the clouds casting shadows on the ground below.

I have the good camera with me this week; I’m interested in seeing what kind of pictures I can coax out of the mountains.
